Helpful Grumpy Vet — veteran, engineer, maker, and tech nerd sharing practical projects, repairs, and technology.
Texas-made perspective

Useful answers. Zero fluff.

Veteran-earned perspective on service, technology, tools, and the everyday problems nobody wrote a decent manual for.

Been there. Fixed that.
Probably complained about it.

Helpful Grumpy Vet exists to make complicated things useful. No gatekeeping. No corporate varnish. Just honest perspective, practical know-how, and the occasional well-earned gripe.

Garage Know-How

Tools, mechanical projects, and hard-earned lessons from doing the work instead of watching it online.

BBQ, Bourbon
& Bench Talk

Good smoke takes patience. Good bourbon takes time. Good conversation usually takes both.

When the work is done and the equipment is put away, there’s room at the bench for Texas BBQ, an honest bourbon pour, and unhurried talk about projects, lessons learned, and whatever deserves a little grumbling.

Low & slowHonest poursNo tasting-note nonsense

Twelve years in uniform. A career in technology. A lifetime of figuring things out the hands-on way.

“I enjoy figuring out how things work, fixing what’s broken, and sharing what I learn—usually over a good bourbon and with a healthy dose of sarcasm.”

Grumpy Vet served nine years in the Army National Guard as a 19K Armor Crewman and three years in the Navy Reserves as an IT3. After originally studying law enforcement, the path shifted into technology—where most of an adult career has been spent solving problems and keeping systems working.

Mechanical work, repairs, and hands-on projects have always run alongside that career, sometimes for extra money and sometimes simply because there was something worth learning. Based in Texas, Grumpy Vet brings all of those worlds together with one rule: if advice isn’t useful in real life, it isn’t useful.
